Heavenly Focus
“How blessed is the one whom You
choose and bring near to You
To dwell in Your courts.
We will be satisfied with the
goodness of Your house,
Your holy temple.
By awesome deeds You answer us
in righteousness, O God of our salvation,
You who are the trust of all the ends
of the earth and of the farthest sea;
Who establishes the mountains
by His strength,
Being girded with might;
Who stills the roaring of the seas,
The roaring of their waves,
And the tumult of the peoples.
They who dwell in the ends of the earth
stand in awe of Your signs;
You make the dawn and the sunset shout for joy.
You visit the earth and cause it to overflow;
You greatly enrich it;
The stream of God is full of water;
You prepare their grain,
for thus You prepare the earth.
You water its furrows abundantly,
You settle its ridges,
You soften it with showers,
You bless its growth.
You have crowned the year with Your bounty,
And Your paths drip with fatness.
The pastures of the wilderness drip,
And the hills gird themselves with rejoicing.
The meadows are clothed with flocks
And the valleys are covered with grain;
They shout for joy, yes, they sing.”
(Psalm 65:4-13)
Everything is a gift.
Everything we have
Came first through Him.
What a treasure God is,
What an honor & blessing
to know Him with a grateful heart.
Everywhere we look in creation we see Him
And His faithful tender-loving care.
Everywhere we turn the knowledge of Him is there.
“Because Your lovingkindness
is better than life,
My lips will praise You.
So I will bless You as long as I live;
I will lift up my hands in Your name.”
(Psalm 63:3-4)
The verses here from Psalm 65 are
perfect to reflect upon in light of Thanksgiving.
But even more importantly to remember every day.
God surrounds us with His lovingkindness.
How good is His goodness, mercy and love.
How holy and just He is and righteous in all
His ways and everything He does.
It's easy to wake up in the morning
and take these things for granted.
To whiz right past the obvious, and that which is
abundantly clear to us, yet sometimes we forget.
Every day is a gift from His hand,
no matter the challenge, it is still a gift.
Life is precious, priceless and valuable.
Regardless of our mindset or this moment in time.
God’s loving presence is everywhere.
It’s crazy how easy it is to forget or doubt this.
All the while He sits watching and seeing us.
How He longs for us to remember Him.
To come to Him and spend time with Him.
We seek the company of others we love.
All the while He is present and seeking ours.
This is not a guilty reminder.
But a loving reminder.
He is the silent guest,
who is always present with us.
May we always remember to give Him
a seat at our table. A chair in our living room,
a space in our lives, and room in our hearts for Him.
May we remember to give Him all us.
To be present with Him the way He is
with us everyday.
We shouldn’t need this reminder but we do.
May we love our faithful Good Shepherd
the way He loves us today. ❤️
