Knowing Jesus, God's Gift of Love to Us

The first step to knowing Jesus is to recognize our need for Him.

We were designed with a God-given purpose to know Him.

God has planted a hunger within us that can only be satisfied by Himself.

We were created to have a personal one on one relationship with God.

To walk and talk with Him like Adam and Eve did in the Garden of Eden.

Before they sinned and had to leave it.

God is Holy and perfect, completely spotless and without sin.

He desires for us to be the same. He designed us with a freewill

To be able to choose for ourselves and make decisions.

Adam and Eve chose to sin and because they did,

Sin entered the world, and now we all do too by default.

We don’t have to look far to see it because we all have sinned,

And missed the mark of God’s holiness. All our righteous deeds

are as filthy rags, and one sin is enough to keep us from Heaven.

as it is written,

“There is none righteous, not even one;

(Romans 3:10)

“For all of us have become like one who is unclean,

And all our righteous deeds are like a filthy garment;”

(Isaiah 64:6)

“Therefore, just as through one man sin entered into the world,

and death through sin, and so death spread to all men,

because all sinned.” (Romans 5:12)

The punishment for our sin is death. Eternal death. Hell is real

And God’s not messing around. He is Holy and Righteous

and no sin is allowed in His presence, none, zero, zip, nada.

“For You are not a God who takes pleasure in wickedness; No evil dwells with You.” (Psalm 5:4)

“Your eyes are too pure to look on evil,

and you cannot tolerate wrongdoing.”

(Habakkuk 1:13)

We are completely guilty and there are no passes or excuses.

We cannot wipe that slate clean ourselves. It is impossible

to do it with sinful hands. We simply cannot pay its price.

So, what do we do? It’s not about what we can do but about

what God has done for us.

Before the foundation of the world God had a plan in place.

In His all-knowing loving heart He chose to send His Son,

His One and Only Son to become a human being like us.

To live the Holy life that we could not, to fulfill all the

requirements of God that we cannot and then willingly

take the punishment of death for our sins that we might be

forgiven and receive eternal life in Heaven instead of Hell.

God is just and in His love He paid the debt we owed, and the penalty for us, with the shed blood of His own dear Son.

He extends His salvation to us for free even though it cost Him everything He had.

For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift

of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

(Romans 6:23)

“For by grace you have been saved through faith;

and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God;

not as a result of works, so that no one may boast.”

(Ephesians 2:8-9)

“Jesus *said to him, “I am the way, and the truth,

and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me.”

(John 14:6)

This is why it is so important that we recognize that

Jesus is the only way we can know God.

It is also the reason why we must be very serious in

our commitment to follow Him with all of our hearts.

We don’t want to just have some half-hearted,

only wanting "fire insurance" commitment.

No, we want to actually know the God who loves

us with such an incredibly life altering love.

Who sacrificed everything for us.

We also do not want to willingly continue

In the same sin that cost Him His life.

We must repent (turn away) from our sin,

and turn towards Him and seek to live

differently than we did before we knew Him.

How do we do all this you may ask?

It begins by first surrendering ourselves,

and our lives to Him.

We acknowledge our sin and confess it to Him.

We seek His forgiveness and put our faith

and trust in Him. We openly receive His gift

of salvation and make a commitment to

follow Him with all of our hearts.

Romans 10:8-9 tells us,

“That if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and

believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead,

you will be saved;”

John 1:12 says,

“But as many as received Him, to them He

gave the right to become children of God,

even to those who believe in His name.”

Jesus said “He who is not with Me is against Me;

and he who does not gather with Me scatters.

(Matthew 12:30) Which side will you choose?

“And inasmuch as it is appointed for men to die once

and after this comes judgment.” (Hebrews 9:27)

Will you be ready?

Will you believe and receive Him into your heart today?

Here is an example of how you may pray to invite Him in.

Lord Jesus, I know that I am a sinner and I ask for Your forgiveness.

I believe that You died for my sins and rose from the dead.

I turn from my sins and invite You to come into my heart and life.

I want to trust and follow You as my Lord and Savior.

In Jesus' name. Amen.

The next steps are equally important to be able to grow

in our knowledge and understanding of God and become

closer to Him.

Reading our Bibles, praying, sharing our faith.

Fellowshipping with other believers.

Going to a strong bible-teaching church.

God takes care of the rest and by His Holy Spirit

Will lead and guide us and help us to grow and

enable us to live for Him and walk in His footsteps.

Grace and peace to you today

through our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

If you made this commitment today,

or have any questions,

Please contact me and let me know.

And let others around you know too.

Praying the Lord will help you to become

rooted and grounded in your faith in Him,

And to stay strong. God bless you!
