“The Lord will command His lovingkindness in the daytime;
And His song will be with me in the night.” (Psalm 42:8)
It is interesting to think about all the things the Lord
“Commands”.
He commands the physical attributes of the universe,
and all their elements … the wind, the rain
the waves and the sea; The Sun to rise and set.
He holds the world in His hands;
The Earth spins without an axel,
suspended upon nothing - or
without a physically visible support.
He rules and reigns over all the Heavens and Earth.
And here in this verse it says that He commands
His lovingkindness over us and throughout our day.
There is never a moment where He ceases to be
upon His throne and in control over everything,
and over every living being.
What a beautiful truth is given and
revealed to us here of His heart.
The Lord will command His lovingkindness
in the daytime; present & future tense.
When we rise in the morning we can be assured
of this gracious gift,
“The Lord will command His lovingkindness
In the daytime.”
What a comfort, what a promise of hope.
“And His song will be with me in the night.”
How many times has God given us a song in the night.
Not just in the sun going down at the close of our day,
but in the blackest times of the night in our real-life struggles.
What a great provider God is, not only with our
physical needs, but with our souls’ eternal needs.
The same way that He has provided the sun, moon and
stars for physical light in our lives. He has provided the
Eternal Light of the World to us in Jesus.
Oh, that He commands, orders and directs, and
tells it to go forth into our lives, and into our hearts,
is such a God thing.
So true of His nature, goodness and tender mercies;
How absolutely stunning, and mind boggling this is
of His loving heart and indescribable ways.
So reassuring of a parent to their child;
How compassionate, caring and ever inviting
to a troubled heart and weary soul.
Lovingly He speaks His words over us saying,
“I command My lovingkindness over you in the
daytime.”
Reassuring us of His constant and continual
abiding presence and care.
“His song will be with me in the night”
like a Heavenly lullaby He sings over
you and me.

A song of the redeemed.
And of power and deliverance
by our Almighty God and King.
A song of hope and healing;
A song of peace and comfort.
A song of praise and worship.
A song of His nearness.
A song of His precious promises.
A song from our Savior.
A song when we have forgotten how to sing.
A song of freedom and release.
A song of Heaven and home.
A song of truth for whatever the need is.
A song which God inhabits;
A song where He meets
and speaks with us.
Oh, how praiseworthy is our God.
How worthy You are,
How utterly beautiful,
Holy and unchanging You are.
How faithful and good.
You are my song O, Lord
Forever and ever without end.
In the daytime and in the nighttime
and for eternity without end.
Where there will be no more night,
Because You shall forever be our light.
Thank You Lord, for Your lovingkindness to me!
Thank You that You command and control it,
and send it out from Your incredible heart of love.
Thank you for Your unchanging love,
truth, faithfulness and abiding presence.
Last but certainly not least “A song of celebration”
of eternal rejoicing and gladness.
