MY FATHER’S SHOES

MY father’s shoes beaten and worn

tell the story of a humble, kind-hearted man.

Both have walked a lot of miles,

and seen a lot of places upon this earth;

and the character of both has truly lasted.

His shoes like a companion; both of them taking each step together…

have weathered the storms & seasons of life, enduring through the good and the bad; and have served their purpose well.

Each maintaining their integrity;

helping to touch hearts,

and change lives along the way.

To the outsider they may appear old and past their time, but to the careful eye they are a thing of beauty; with great value, and comfort as they hold steadfast.

It’s no wonder that shoes are so often used as a metaphor, for what a testimony my father walking upon this earth for 97 years is to me; and yes no one else could ever fill his shoes quite the same way!
