More Than the Sands of the Sea

Many, O LORD my God,
are the wonders which You have done,
And Your thoughts toward us;
There is none to compare with You.
If I would declare and speak of them,
They would be too numerous to count.
(Psalm 40:5)
This is my bit of comfort for the day.
“Many are the wonders …
and Your thoughts toward us…
They would be too numerous to count.”
The fact that I would be on God’s mind at all
is truly humbling, and leaves me bewildered
and dumbfounded.
And for His thoughts toward me to be
too numerous to count just floors me.
And His wonders too numerous to count.
What an incredible God we serve,
what an amazing love He has for us,
that knows no limits or boundaries
and flows so freely from His heart.
He gives us so much.
It draws me in and makes me want
to love Him more and more.
Like the way these song lyrics
by Lanny Wolfe express that here:
“I keep falling in love with Him over and over again.
He gets sweeter and sweeter as the days go by,
Oh what a love between my Lord and I.”
How comforting His words are,
how reassuring His love.
We are not alone, our God is with us.
And His thoughts toward us cannot be counted,
His wonders never-ending.
How incredible is our Eternal Shepherd.
What a refuge our God truly is,
and our greatest help in time of need.
We are seen, and we are known, by the One
who loves us more than anything in the universe.
The One who laid down His life for you and I.
The depths of His care and sacrifice immeasurable.
His boundless, inexhaustible love and resources limitless.
There is never a time where He is not actively present
and ever-mindful of our every need.
What kind of love is this? That cares so much for us
that even “His thoughts toward us are more than the
sands of the sea”? (Psalm 139:17-18)
How tiny a grain of sand is, yet important to God
like the smallest care we have to the most
overwhelmingly sized one we have or encounter.
What a faithful, kindhearted, loyalty God shows toward us.
He has lovingly captured our hearts and won us over.
“We love because He first loved us.”
And oh how He has loved you and me!
May we never forget for even a moment just
how amazingly and wonderfully we are loved.
May He hold us close to His heart today,
comfort and hold us tightly, and may all
our cares melt away in His presence.
Praise God forever and ever amen.
May we thank Him today for every good
thing He has given to us.
