“But as for me, I trust in You, O Lord,
I say, “You are my God.”
My times are in Your hand.”
(Psalms 31:14-15a)
There is a sense of relief that comes when
we release this burden into God’s hands.
Our times are in His capable, caring hands.
Whatever happens, we know that He’s in
charge, and will help us through it.
There are so many things in this life that
can make us apprehensive, or flat out feel
like we’re running scared.
Fleeing from the unknown or uncertain,
or simply just not feeling like we are up
to the task or challenge.
We feel vulnerable, weak and unsure;
or even exposed like a target is on our back.
Or like we are in the sights of the enemy.
The uncertainty can keep us up at night,
or cause us to drag our feet through the day.
Our minds won’t rest or take a day off from
the concerns, and then they only multiply,
growing bigger and bigger until we completely
lose focus.
Our focus on God, and what really matters.
And instead we are haunted by all of our woes
and cares, and weighed down in both our spirit,
and our soul. Making us feel helpless, hopeless and lost.
But God is so kind, patiently leading and guiding us,
out of the wilderness of our sufferings,
and out of the valley of our sorrows.
His word comes in like a light in the darkness,
and He waters our thirsty, barren souls.
He pours out His love upon us,
and showers His grace over us,
and gently takes our hand and
walks us through.
He lifts us up and carries us on His shoulders.
He allows us to see things through His vantage point,
and carefully tends to each need we have.
How good is our God and faithful Shepherd.
How kind indeed! What a sweet surrender it is,
simply to say, “My times are in Your hand.”
“How great is Your goodness,
Which You have stored up for those who fear You,
Which You have wrought (prepared) for those who
take refuge in You, Before the sons of men!”
(Psalms 31:19).
Wow, what a storehouse!
We cannot begin to imagine all of His goodness.
What great news this is!
God is only getting started.
He has so much more stored up.
Just imagine what Heaven will be like!!!
As sure as we do no know what tomorrow holds,
we also do not know what goodness He has in it
for us either.
Praise God for His faithfulness; In His goodness toward us past, present, and future.
Where we bring Him a bucket to fill,
He gives us an ocean to overflow it.
Oh, how tender are His mercies,
and gentle His graces.
Even in the midst of the fiercest battle,
we can cry out our God is good!
And He loves us forever and ever without end.
His mercies are new every morning,
His goodness chases after us with
His loving arms reaching out to hold us.
What a hope we have in Him,
that washes away our worry,
doubt and despair.
And in the end we will enjoy His presence
forevermore, never to struggle through again.
What freedom we will find in the sound of the trumpet,
or in the angels that carry us home.
What gracious comfort He bestows upon us even now.
His voice softly speaking to our hearts,
“Only a little while longer until it will be no more.”
“And lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”
(Matthew 28:20b)
He is with us from beginning to end,
And all of our times are in His hands.
“Blessed be the Lord,
For He has made marvelous
His lovingkindness to me in a besieged city.”
(Psalms 31:21)
Praise God He certainly has!
“O love the Lord, all you His godly ones!
The Lord preserves the faithful
And fully recompenses the proud doer.
Be strong and let your heart take courage,
All you who hope in the Lord.” (Psalms 31:23-24).
And all God’s people said “Amen”.
Lord, help us to ponder Your goodness today,
And thank You.
