This King who sang his faith with a heart that leaned on Heaven
knew where faith rises giants fall.
David had so many things he had to trust the Lord in.
Like a seasoned veteran who has experienced
numerous challenges, and weathered countless storms.
His faith had deepened and developed overtime,
and his trust had increased.
The words he spoke and the prayers he said,
have a greater impact because they do not come
from a shallow place, sounding empty or hollow,
but from the depths of his heart and soul.
He has seen God’s faithfulness, and His
long-standing track record has never failed.
David’s battle cry to trust in the name of the Lord,
comes with much more meaning.
You can’t help but feel encouraged by it.
And want to join in the chorus with him:
“Some trust in chariots and some in horses,
But we trust in the name of the Lord our God.”
(Psalm 20:7)
There is so much we can learn and glean from the men
and women of faith in the Bible, and from others today,
who have endured the testing of their faith.
How blessed and encouraged we are by their examples.
How well they resonate with us and our own needs.
How their hearts and actions exhibit true godliness.
What a great cloud of witnesses surrounds us,
cheering us on and saying:
You can do it; you can make it through!
Cling to His promises, proclaim His goodness;
Shout His praises from the rooftop, and
declare His salvation to everyone.
“Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts,
to which indeed you were called in one body;
and be thankful.
Let the word of Christ richly dwell within you,
with all wisdom teaching and admonishing
one another with psalms and hymns and
spiritual songs, singing with thankfulness
in your hearts to God.
Whatever you do in word or deed,
do all in the name of the Lord Jesus,
giving thanks through Him to God the Father.”
(Colossians 3:15-17)
Wow, how perfect these words are for us today!
“Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and
peace in believing, so that you will abound in hope
by the power of the Holy Spirit.”
(Romans 15:13)
“The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God,
and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit, be with you all.”
(2 Corinthians 13:14)
Praise God and amen!
“We will sing for joy over your victory,
And in the name of our God we will
set up our banners.
May the Lord fulfill all your petitions.” (Psalm 20:5 ) Words of encouragement for the battle: “Through You we will push back our adversaries; Through Your name we will trample down those who rise up against us. For I will not trust in my bow, Nor will my sword save me. But You have saved us from our adversaries, And You have put to shame those who hate us. In God we have boasted all day long, And we will give thanks to Your name forever.” (Psalms 44:5-8)
“Through God we shall do valiantly, And it is He who will tread down our adversaries.”
(Psalms 60:12)
Wow, what powerful words these are.
The battle truly belongs to the Lord,
And our help and hope found solely in Him.
“But as for me, I shall sing of Your strength;
Yes, I shall joyfully sing of Your lovingkindness
in the morning,
For You have been my stronghold
And a refuge in the day of my distress.
O my strength, I will sing praises to You;
For God is my stronghold, the God who shows me lovingkindness.” (Psalm 59:16-17)
I love it! What amazing words of comfort and encouragement!
Every battle cry should come with praises included in it.
“For God is the King of all the earth; Sing praises with a skillful psalm.
God reigns over the nations,
God sits on His holy throne.
The princes of the people have assembled
themselves as the people of the God of Abraham,
For the shields of the earth belong to God; He is highly exalted.” (Psalms 47:7-9)
Amen! What an awesome God we have! “Your throne, O God, is forever and ever; A scepter of righteousness is the scepter of Your kingdom.”
(Psalms 45:6)
“There is no wisdom and no understanding And no counsel against the Lord. The horse is prepared for the day of battle, But victory belongs to the Lord.”
(Proverbs 21:30-31)
“The Lord will fight for you while you keep silent.”
(Exodus 14:14)
“So I said to you: Don’t be terrified or afraid of them! The Lord your God who goes before you will fight for you, just as you saw him do for you in Egypt.
And you saw in the wilderness how the Lord your God carried you
as a man carries his son all along the way you traveled until you
reached this place.” (Deuteronomy 1:29-31)
