“Behold, I will not restrain my lips, O Lord, You know.

I have not hidden Your righteousness within my heart; I have spoken of Your faithfulness and Your salvation; I have not concealed Your lovingkindness and Your

truth from the great congregation.” (Psalm 40:9b-10)

(How will they know unless someone tells them?)

I will not restrain…

I have not hidden…

I have not concealed…

“There’s a time to speak,

and a time to be silent.” (Ecc 3:7)

“A time to guard our mouth

like with a muzzle” (Psalm 40:1)

And there’s a time to not hold anything back.

To not bury our gift or hide our light under a bushel.

“You are the light of the world - like a city on a hilltop

that cannot be hidden.” (Matthew 5:14 )

We are called to be “Salt and Light” (Matt 5:13-16).

The things we can share about the Lord

should never be held back.

I love the Psalmist’s vow

and want to make it my own.

How he has not kept God’s righteousness a secret.

It’s not something he keeps wrapped up and locked

away only in his heart or is afraid to share about.

He wants to tell the whole world about it.

He does not want God’s glory to be kept

covered or remain veiled.

He wants God’s glory to shine!

He doesn’t pause to ponder if he’s qualified or not.

He only knows that He must share it.

“I have spoken of Your faithfulness

and Your salvation; “(v10).

Are we not able to do the same?

To do like the blind man who said,

“Once I was blind but now I see”? (Jn 9:25).

“I have not concealed Your lovingkindness

and Your truth.” (v10).

Are we not witnesses to this in our own lives?

I love David’s boldness, and how he says he

has not concealed it from the congregation,

Or for us from our brothers and sisters,

and a non-believing world.

Lord give us the boldness to not hesitate

Or ponder too long over the things You

desire for us to share about You.

Help us to have a heart like David

who’s only concern was to make You known.

Help us to share Your kindness & goodness,

Your mercy and tender love;

Your holiness & righteousness,

Your forgiveness & salvation;

that You have extended to us,

and share it with one another & the world.

“We have all eternity to celebrate the victories,

but only a few hours before sunset to win them.”

- Amy Carmichael

Let us seize the day today,

and make every moment,

And every opportunity count❣️

Lord, help us to lay aside every doubt or

concern that we may exalt you Jesus. 🙌

In Your name, amen.

For we are Your light-bearers,

Created in Your image,

And entrusted with Your treasure.
